Dublin, Ireland
December 2015

Co-writer/Performer

The Fortune Teller was a devised performance and installation based on a George de la Tour painting. The work made mischief out of its premise, outcome precurses misfortune. The night was akin to a silent film set in 1630, narrated by a composition created and performed by Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh, It concluded with the serving of mulled wine. It was perhaps the most ornate way we could think of to have a Christmas party.

This afternoon of readings and sharing of stories was created in response to a frustration with the system of direct provision in Ireland and the elements of invisibility and voicelessness that it perpetrates. It was an event that created a platform for people to speak on their own behalf from a variety of contexts. It has since lead to a collaboration called Change of Address. See www.changeofaddresscollective.com for more information.

Mondegreen

The Perishable Theatre
Providence, RI
November 2009

Writer/Performer/Director/Puppeteer

Mondegreen was a collaboration between myself and the writer, Cauley Green. It was a performative endeavour where two stories took place alongside one another without intersecting and yet they were entirely thematically interwoven based on mishearings and misunderstandings. At the centre of the stories was a conversation that took place in total darkness between the audience and my dying mother who called in during each performance with her version of both.

M.E.C.B. was a play written as part of The Fledgling Festival by myself and Daniel DiBattista. It was a parable about human misery particular to the festering consumption of The United States. It utilised the two main characters as examples of lonely isolation. One obese and poorly kept, and the other a garbage eating roving Tom.
